Abstract

Purpose:This study was to evaluate the effect of foot reflexology on the fatigue, feeling and vital signs of the nurses.

Method:The research design was a quasi experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected from June 1st to July 31st, 2004. The one group was consisted of 20 subjects. The instruments used for the study were the Fatigue and Feeling Scale. The data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 10.0 program. In order to compare the effect of the pre-post Foot Reflexology, Paired t-test and Repeated Measures ANOVA was employed.

Result:There was significant decrease in fatigue, systolic and diastolic blood pressure after providing foot reflexology. There was not significant changed of feeling and pulse after foot reflexology.

Conclusion:The results proved that foot reflexology was an effective nursing intervention to decrease systolic pressure and diastolic pressure and to improve fatigue but not for the feeling. Therefore, feeling should be further evaluated with larger subjects and for a longer period.
